1. Overview / Purpose
L.Y.F. (Light Your Fire) is committed to high product quality and customer satisfaction. This Returns & Refund Policy explains your rights and our process if you receive faulty (defective) goods — such as Hot Legs, Braai Bags, T-shirts, and Caps — and how to return them.
2. Legal Rights Under South African Law
Under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), Act 68 of 2008, consumers have an implied warranty of quality:
- Within six (6) months after delivery, if goods are unsafe, defective, or of poor quality, you may return them.
- You have the right to choose your remedy: repair, replacement, or refund.
- If we repair the item and the defect recurs (or is not fixed) within three (3) months, you may request a replacement or refund.
3. Our Defective-Goods Return Window
- Although the CPA provides a 6-month window, we request that you initiate returns for faulty goods within 30 days of delivery.
- Claims after 30 days will still be assessed case-by-case in line with the CPA.
4. How to Return a Faulty Item

Contact us as soon as you notice a defect:
Email info@lightyourfire.co.za with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos if possible. - We will issue a Return Authorisation (RA) and provide return instructions.
- Pack the item securely — preferably in original packaging — to avoid further damage.
- Return the item via courier or another agreed method.
5. Who Pays for Return Shipping?
- If the item is faulty, we cover the return shipping cost.
- If the item is returned for reasons unrelated to defects (e.g., change of mind), you may need to cover the return shipping cost.
6. What We Will Do After Receiving the Return
After we receive and inspect the item, we will, based on your choice:
- Repair the item (if feasible)
- Replace the item (same or equivalent product)
- Refund the purchase price to your original payment method
We aim to process repairs, replacements, or refunds within 10 business days of approval.
7. Warranty on Repairs
If we repair a faulty item and the same defect recurs within 3 months, you may request:
- A replacement, or
- A refund
This is in accordance with the CPA.
8. Non-Returnable / Excluded Items
- Items that are not faulty (e.g., change of mind) may not qualify under this policy.
- Our “change of mind” rules do not override your CPA rights but may be more restrictive.
- Items altered, misused, or damaged by the consumer may not be eligible for repair or return.
9. Cancellations Before Delivery
- If your order has not shipped yet, you may cancel it.
- Contact info@lightyourfire.co.za as soon as possible.
- Refunds are processed to your original payment method, typically within 5–7 business days.
10. Dispute Process
- If we decline your return or repair request, we will provide written reasons.
- You may appeal by contacting info@lightyourfire.co.za within 14 calendar days.
- If unresolved, you may take the matter to the National Consumer Commission or alternative dispute resolution.
11. Policy Updates
